A beaver pond at Devil's Thumb Ranch near Fraser, Colorado. August 2012.
A field of paintbrush in the spring
A white fence lined with bluebonnets
A field of paintbrush carpets a Texas field in the spring. I'd hoped to get this scene on film, but a cloud changed those plans. "Sometimes chicken, sometimes feathers," said my cousin, who had come along for the ride with me.
A white fence lined with bluebonnets near Llano, Texas in April 2010.
A rather famous fenceline on the road approaching the Blue Lakes Trailhead underneath Mount Sneffels. It was kind of a hazy day, so I didn't get the color shots I was hoping for, but I think it works really well as a black-and-white image.
A winter fenceline late on a January afternoon near Walden, Colorado. As you might guess from the drifting, it's kind of a windy place!
Woke up early on an April morning to catch the sunrise at a beautiful field we'd scouted the day before, close to Bastrop, Texas. It was quite cool, probably around 40 degrees. I love how the film's resolution preserves tiny foreground details like the heavy dew on the flowers.
An autumn rainbow and an old fencepost, near Westcliffe, Colorado. Had to wait here for a while for some foreground light to bring out the texture on the post and in the grass, all the while hoping the rainbow would persist.
