Old railbed and bluebonnets in Texas, April 2010. There are a lot of spots along this railbed where you can get some really fun compositions.
An old house south of Westcliffe, Colorado on the road towards Music Pass. Had to wait for the thunderstorm to pass before getting this shot, and got some rather dramatic light as a result.

Spruce Tree House, Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado. When I climbed down into the kiva and saw this shaft of light, I knew I needed to shoot it, but I had no tripod! So I did my best to balance the camera in one of the recessed areas on the kiva wall. When there was still a little blurring in the image, it became "Photoshop watercolor filter to the rescue!" Really, the strength of this composition is in the lines and the color of the shaft of light, none of which is lost in giving it the a painted look. This image was on display at Denver International Airport as a 24x36 canvas for a while, and was my first publicly displayed work.
Old church (or so I'm guessing) in Pontotoc, Texas, April 2010. If you look carefully, you can see the cactus growing out of the top of the building at the upper right corner.
The window of an old homestead, near Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado. The walls of this place were about a foot thick, to fight the cold (winter temperatures in the San Luis Valley regularly go to 30F below zero). Whoever lived here was really tough!
