Woke up early on an April morning to catch the sunrise at a beautiful field we'd scouted the day before, close to Bastrop, Texas. It was quite cool, probably around 40 degrees. I love how the film's resolution preserves tiny foreground details like the heavy dew on the flowers.
Old church (or so I'm guessing) in Pontotoc, Texas, April 2010. If you look carefully, you can see the cactus growing out of the top of the building at the upper right corner.
American Basin, near Lake City, Colorado, shot in late July 2010. Rented a Jeep in town the night before and drove up early in the morning. This is a very popular spot in the summertime, but I was the only one there at 5:15 AM. You can definitely trade some sleep for early morning solitude.
